Three Gold Coast trades firms hit: two liquidations, one wind-up bid
Gold Coast QBCC licensees Remedial Building Technicians and NY Painting and Maintenance entered liquidation on 14 October; Crete Construct faces a wind-up bid.
Two Gold Coast trades contractors, Remedial Building Technicians and NY Painting and Maintenance, were placed into creditors’ voluntary liquidation on 14 October 2026. A third, Ormeau concreter Crete Construct, faces a court application to wind it up. All three hold QBCC trade contractor licences, so a South East Queensland head contractor with open work or unpaid invoices involving any of them needs to act now.
Why it matters
Remedial Building Technicians Pty Ltd and NY Painting and Maintenance Pty Ltd both passed member resolutions to wind up on 14 October, according to ASIC’s published notices. Liquidators now control each company’s books, contracts and claims.
For a builder, that changes three things. Money owed to either company is now collectable only by the liquidator. Money the company owes to its own subcontractors and suppliers becomes an unsecured claim. And any warranty or defect work the companies promised is unlikely to be performed.
The notice for Remedial Building Technicians records Matthew John Bookless as liquidator, with a Southport QLD address and a contact at svp.com.au. It was published on 15 October.
The notice for NY Painting and Maintenance names Nick Keramos and Bill Karageozis as joint liquidators, also at a Southport address. It was published on 14 October.
The numbers
Two liquidations were recorded on one day. Both are creditors’ voluntary liquidations, meaning the owners chose the process and the creditors have not yet had their say.
The third company is a different case. The Crete Construct notice, dated 28 September, says JGI Transport Pty Ltd commenced a winding-up application on 8 September. The notice lists the hearing for 10:30am on 14 October.
That is an application, not a liquidation. The notice does not say whether a winding-up order was made, and no liquidator appears on it. Crete Construct is not in liquidation on the record we hold.
Our lookup also found that the hearing was listed in the Supreme Court of Victoria, in Melbourne, even though ASIC files the notice under Queensland. The notice does not say why.
None of the three notices states a debt figure or a creditor list. The QBCC licensee register lists all three as licensed trade contractors with Gold Coast business addresses: Remedial Building Technicians in Maudsland, with classes including bricklaying, painting, roof and wall cladding, concreting and waterproofing; NY Painting and Maintenance in Coomera, painting and decorating; and Crete Construct in Ormeau, concreting.
What’s next
Liquidators typically report to creditors after appointment. For the two liquidations, a creditors’ meeting notice should follow, and ASIC publishes those on the same site. Check that site for the named companies.
The records leave open who the unpaid parties are, so treat each company’s unsecured creditors as unknown until the liquidators report. A subcontractor paid late by a head contractor in this chain may also have its own cash-flow problem, and that is worth asking about directly.
Practical steps for a Brisbane or Gold Coast head contractor:
- List every unpaid invoice, retention and open variation with each company, and send details to the liquidator.
- Confirm who is on site now and who holds the work under any subcontract.
- Ask the owner or supervisor whether the tasks can be re-let, and under what terms.
- For Crete Construct, check whether a winding-up order has been made before assuming the company is out.
This follows our earlier roundup of Queensland trades insolvencies, which covered a different set of firms in September and October. More on the state market is in Queensland.
