Five Queensland trades firms enter insolvency in 11 days
Two joiners, a bricklayer, a tiler and a roofer. Check who is on your open jobs.
Five Queensland-licensed trades firms, two joiners, a bricklayer, a tiler and a roofer, went into voluntary administration or creditors’ voluntary liquidation between 11 and 22 September 2026, ASIC notices show. If one is on your open jobs, you now deal with an administrator or liquidator, not the company.
Why it matters
ASIC published notices show five Queensland-licensed finishing-trade companies entered formal insolvency between 11 and 22 September 2026. Joinery appears twice, alongside bricklaying, tiling and roofing. These are the trades that come late in a build, when a builder or owner may already have paid deposits or progress claims.
The type of appointment matters. In a voluntary administration the company is not yet wound up and may keep trading while the administrator reviews it. In a creditors’ voluntary liquidation the company is being wound up. Either way, unpaid creditors, including builders holding deposits, sit in the queue.
For a Brisbane builder or developer, this means checking for open orders, deposits and warranty questions on any job touching these names, and asking whether a replacement trade can start on time.
This follows the licence pressure in QBCC suspends 150 builder licences in 30 days. That story counted builder licences. This one names trades firms. See also the Queensland hub.
The numbers
- Seven2Seven Pty Ltd, Marian: creditors’ voluntary liquidation, appointed 11 September. Appointee: Dissolve Pty Ltd.
- Jopet Holdings Pty Ltd, Molendinar, formerly trading as Formetta Cabinets, Wood Marble & White and Border Joinery: creditors’ voluntary liquidation, appointed 14 September. Appointee: Jirsch Sutherland.
- Forma Joinery Pty Ltd, Mansfield: voluntary administration, appointed 17 September. Appointee: Worrells.
- Baker Roofing Pty Ltd: voluntary administration, appointed 17 September, notice published 8 October. Appointee: BCR Advisory. It holds a Queensland licence, but its registered address is in Rozelle, New South Wales.
- Crown Bricklaying Pty Ltd, Yeronga: creditors’ voluntary liquidation, appointed 22 September, notice published 25 September. Appointee: Rodgers Reidy.
What’s next
Creditor meetings are the next step. The Forma Joinery notice describes a first creditors’ meeting held online, and the Baker Roofing notice calls a second meeting. Builders owed money or holding deposits should lodge claims with the appointee named above, not with the company.
Ask each appointee whether contracts are continuing and what applies to work already paid for. Check the QBCC register for the status of any replacement trade before you sign.
