Microsoft's reported $1.263bn, 96MW Honeman Close data centre in Huntingwood was approved on 1 October 2026 (SSD-58601963), clearing 0.31ha of woodland.
Microsoft’s reported $1.263 billion, 96MW data centre at 6 Honeman Close, Huntingwood, was approved on 1 October 2026, the NSW Planning Portal shows. The consent clears critically endangered Cumberland Plain Woodland.
For Western Sydney industrial landholders, it shows a council objection over conservation land did not stop a State significant data centre consent.
Why it matters
The NSW Planning Portal lists State significant development application SSD-58601963 as determined and approved on 1 October 2026. The portal does not name the applicant or a dollar value. Real Estate Source identifies Microsoft and reports the $1.263 billion figure.
Blacktown City Council objected, mainly over the loss of conservation area, and raised bulk, scale and landscaping. Real Estate Source reports it withdrew that objection after the design changed and biodiversity measures were added. The portal still records the council submission as Object, so treat the withdrawal as reported, not confirmed on the record.
