A beachfront house at 79-83 Hedges Avenue, Mermaid Beach, on the Gold Coast, was listed on 6 November 2026 with an asking price of A$47.5m, according to a Gold Coast Bulletin report by Aleisha Dawson carried on realestate.com.au News. The outlet frames the listing as a bid to beat the Queensland house record.

Why it matters

The report says the asking price is above the A$40m Queensland house record, set in August with a waterfront sale at Noosa Heads. An asking price is not a sale price, and the article does not say any offer has been made.

The report adds that the highest sale on Hedges Avenue is A$28m, paid in 2024 for No. 41-45.

The report says the marketing agent is Michael Kollosche and does not name his agency. He is reported as saying the home is “a generational asset that would be extraordinarily difficult to replace”. He also said the replacement value would be A$65m to A$70m in the current environment.

The numbers

The outlet reports the house sits on a triple block of 1,212 sqm with about 30 metres of beach frontage. The building covers 2,241 sqm across four levels and was built in 2011.

It has six bedrooms, all with ensuites, and basement garaging for at least 12 vehicles. The report lists a lift connecting all four levels, a heated beachfront infinity-edge pool, alfresco terraces, and a rooftop retreat with a second pool and spa.

Other features named are double-height glazing with ocean views, an oceanfront master suite with a private balcony and dressing room, a cinema, a temperature-controlled wine cellar, a gourmet kitchen with butler’s pantry and two home offices.

On the site’s history, the article says No. 79 was bought at auction for A$6.8m in 2007, and the neighbouring apartment block was bought for A$12.75m in 2006. Both were demolished to make way for the current home.

What’s next

The outlet reports the house as listed, with no sale. The report describes the street as “Billionaire’s Row”. The prices above are the outlet’s.
