CBRE has appointed Paul Tierney to lead its South Australian industrial and logistics (I&L) team, taking over from Paul McKay, who moves into I&L capital markets and investment work for the state. The handover, reported by Elite Agent on 2 November 2026, puts a real estate veteran with more than 38 years’ experience in charge of the team.

Why it matters

Tierney recently joined CBRE as a senior director, bringing more than two decades in industrial sales and leasing. CBRE senior managing director for South Australia, Alistair Laycock, said the appointment would strengthen the firm’s industrial and logistics offering and that Tierney is “ideally suited to lead the team” into its next phase. McKay does not leave the industrial sector; he shifts to capital markets and investment activity within the same division, working with CBRE’s national I&L capital markets division.

Tierney has pointed to supply chain shifts and urban renewal as the forces reshaping demand for logistics and manufacturing space in the state, and said his priority is combining local market intelligence with CBRE’s global platform to secure transactions and unlock land and development opportunities for clients. Those are the appointee’s own stated priorities.

The numbers

CBRE’s announcement did not include transaction values, vacancy rates or a count of live mandates, so none are reported here. What is on the record is Tierney’s experience: more than 38 years in real estate, including more than two decades in industrial sales and leasing.

What’s next

Tierney says the sector is evolving rapidly. Elsewhere in South Australian industry, see the Golden North Murray Bridge plant. No timeline for McKay’s capital markets remit or Tierney’s first mandates under the new structure has been published.
