State revenue commissioner seeks to wind up steel fixer Steel Force
The Commissioner of State Revenue has applied to wind up Victorian steel fixer Steel Force Steel Fixing; ASIC published the notice 14 October 2026.
The Commissioner of State Revenue has applied to wind up Steel Force Steel Fixing Pty Ltd, with the Australian Securities and Investments Commission publishing the notice on 14 October 2026. The filing is an application only, lodged under paragraph 465A(1)(c) of the Corporations Act, and no court has yet made a winding-up order against the company.
Why it matters
Steel Force Steel Fixing is a Victorian-registered trade business, ACN 155 292 498, and steel fixing sits early in the structural sequence on a concrete-framed job, ahead of the pour. If a steel fixer stops trading mid-program, a builder loses the crew that ties reinforcement before a slab or column can be poured, and every trade scheduled after that pour, from formwork strippers to the next level’s steel fixers, slips with it.
The applicant is the Commissioner of State Revenue, the head of Victoria’s State Revenue Office rather than a private creditor, and a tax-debt winding-up application is a distinct category from a trade-creditor filing such as a supplier or plant-hire company chasing an invoice. The notice does not say which state tax is involved, how much is claimed, or whether the debt is disputed. The application is an allegation, not a finding, and Steel Force Steel Fixing can appear and oppose it.
For any builder with Steel Force currently engaged on a reinforcement package, the immediate question is whether the crew is still mobilised on site and whether a second steel-fixing subcontractor is available to step in if an order is eventually made. That check is cheaper to run now, while the application is pending, than after a liquidator is appointed.
The numbers
- Steel Force Steel Fixing Pty Ltd, ACN 155 292 498, registered in Victoria.
- Applicant: Commissioner of State Revenue.
- Notice type: Winding Up Application, paragraph 465A(1)(c) of the Corporations Act.
- Published: 14 October 2026, on the ASIC Published Notices register.
The ASIC record does not carry a hearing date, a court file number or the amount of tax debt in dispute. None of those figures appear anywhere in the published notice, so none are reported here. A hearing date, once listed, would confirm which court is managing the matter and when a winding-up order could be made.
What’s next
A winding-up application does not end a company’s trading on its own. Steel Force Steel Fixing can file a notice of appearance and contest the application, pay the assessed debt, or reach a payment arrangement with the Commissioner of State Revenue before any hearing. Only a court winding-up order would put a liquidator in control of the company’s plant, contracts and remaining workforce.
Any builder with Steel Force Steel Fixing engaged on a current reinforcement package should confirm the subcontract is current, check progress-claim status, and line up an alternative steel fixer in case the arrangement needs to transfer at short notice. Subcontractors or suppliers owed money by Steel Force should note that creditor claims only become live if and when a winding-up order is actually made.
We will update this story if a hearing date, a court outcome, or a liquidator’s appointment is published. Steel Force Steel Fixing is the latest Victorian trade business to face a formal insolvency filing this month, following the batch covered in our 13 October Victoria trades insolvency roundup.
