Trade supplier Tradelink Pty Limited has applied to wind up Victorian plumbing contractor State Wide Plumbing Group Pty Ltd, according to a notice the Australian Securities and Investments Commission published on 21 October 2026. The notice records that Tradelink commenced the application on 25 September 2026 and lists a Federal Court hearing for 28 October 2026. No winding-up order has been made.

Why it matters

State Wide Plumbing Group is registered in Victoria and operates as a plumbing trade business, the kind of subcontractor a residential or commercial builder depends on to rough in and fit off services before a project can reach practical completion. A winding-up application against a plumbing contractor is a signal to any builder currently engaged with the company to check the health of that subcontract now, rather than after a court has acted.

The applicant, Tradelink, is a building-materials and plumbing-supplies trade creditor, not a government revenue office or a statutory insurer. That distinction matters for how the matter is likely to play out. A supplier chasing an unpaid account can be settled, disputed or paid out before a hearing in a way that often happens quietly, and plenty of applications of this kind never reach a winding-up order at all. The notice does not disclose the amount owed, so the scale of the dispute cannot be reported.

The application sits in the Federal Court’s New South Wales registry, although State Wide Plumbing Group is a Victorian company. The notice does not say why.

For builders and principal contractors with State Wide Plumbing Group currently engaged, the immediate steps are the same as for any pending winding-up application: confirm the subcontract and progress-claim status are current, and have a fallback plumbing contractor identified in case the arrangement needs to transfer at short notice. For other trade creditors, a winding-up application does not itself create a right to claim; that only arises if a court order is made and a liquidator appointed.

The numbers

  • State Wide Plumbing Group Pty Ltd, ACN 653 507 156, registered in Victoria.
  • Applicant: Tradelink Pty Limited, a building-materials and plumbing-supplies trade creditor.
  • Application commenced: 25 September 2026.
  • Hearing: 9.30am, 28 October 2026, Federal Court, New South Wales registry (NSW Remote, Law Courts Building, Sydney), action number NSD1795/2026.
  • ASIC notice published: 21 October 2026, under paragraph 465A(1)(c) of the Corporations Act.

The notice does not state the amount Tradelink claims is owed, whether the debt is disputed, or whether State Wide Plumbing Group has filed a notice of appearance. None of those figures are reported here because they do not appear in the published record.

What’s next

A winding-up application is a court filing, not a court outcome. State Wide Plumbing Group can appear at the 28 October hearing and contest the application, negotiate a payment arrangement with Tradelink, or settle the debt before then, any of which would see the application resolved without a winding-up order. Only a court order would place a liquidator in control of the company’s contracts, plant and remaining workforce.

Any builder with an active plumbing package awarded to State Wide Plumbing Group should treat the 28 October hearing date as the point to reassess, and confirm with the company directly on the status of current works. We will update this story if the Federal Court makes an order, appoints a liquidator, or if the application is withdrawn. State Wide Plumbing Group is the latest Victorian trade business to face a formal insolvency filing this month, following the batch covered in our 13 October Victoria trades insolvency roundup.
