Victoria’s Building and Plumbing Commission has listed CJM Developments Pty Ltd’s unlimited domestic building accreditation as suspended, according to the regulator’s practitioner register, which carries a metadata update recorded 18 October 2026.

The register entry for CJM Developments, ACN 164 481 654 and ABN 95 164 481 654, shows the accreditation Domestic Builder - Unlimited, licence number CDB-U 72173, commenced 16 December 2021 and due to expire 16 December 2026, with its status field reading Suspended. The register gives the suspension as the current status only; it does not publish a stated reason category against the entry for this particular accreditation, and nothing in the dataset names a specific project or contract behind the change.

The same register also carries a second, older entry for the company: a Domestic Builder - Limited accreditation, licence number CDB-L 57194, which commenced 1 July 2018 and shows as Surrendered, with an expiry date of 16 March 2022. That limited accreditation is a separate, historical record. The register does not say when the unlimited accreditation was suspended.

Why it matters

A suspended builder registration means CJM Developments cannot lawfully carry out domestic building work under that accreditation while the suspension stands. For any homeowner or buyer with a contract tied to the company, a register entry reading Suspended is the kind of record worth checking directly rather than taking a builder’s own assurances on trust, since the practical effect on a project in progress depends on facts the register itself does not publish, including whether work has stopped.

Victoria’s domestic building sector has carried a steady run of practitioner-register and insolvency actions through October. Victoria’s trades sector recorded multiple insolvency appointments earlier this month, including a roundup of Victorian trades failures covering a civil contractor, an interior linings firm and a plumbing business. A suspended builder registration is a separate regulatory track from a liquidation or administration: the company is not necessarily insolvent, and a suspension can in principle be lifted, but it carries the same practical consequence for anyone relying on the practitioner to finish the work: the builder cannot lawfully continue that work while the suspension stands.

The numbers

CJM Developments holds two entries on the BPC register, both filed under ACN 164 481 654 / ABN 95 164 481 654. The unlimited accreditation, CDB-U 72173, is listed Suspended against a five-year term that commenced 16 December 2021 and was otherwise due to run to 16 December 2026. The limited accreditation, CDB-L 57194, is listed Surrendered against a shorter term that ran from 1 July 2018 to 16 March 2022.

What’s next

The BPC register updates weekly, so the current Suspended status for CDB-U 72173 is the position as published in the dataset’s most recent refresh, recorded 18 October 2026. Homeowners with an existing contract involving CJM Developments should check the live register entry directly before relying on any other representation of the company’s registration status, since a suspension can be lifted, extended or converted to a cancellation in a later weekly update, and none of those outcomes can be read off today’s snapshot alone.
