Italian furnishings brand Natuzzi Italia, one of four brands under the Natuzzi group founded in Italy in 1959, has signed a 10-year lease for a 438 sqm showroom on the ground floor of the Balmain Building at 120 Balmain Street, Cremorne, industry outlet realestatesource.com.au reported on 2 November. The outlet said the showroom will be Natuzzi’s first Melbourne flagship and is set to open in late March 2027.

Why it matters

The outlet reported Natuzzi closed its previous showroom at 483 Church Street, Richmond, four years before the Cremorne announcement, leaving the brand without a dedicated Melbourne flagship in the interim. Colliers’ Travis Myerscough and Matt Cosgrave are the building’s leasing agents, the outlet said. Natuzzi director Jo Francis said the building “stood out for its prominent place in Cremorne’s increasingly influential design and lifestyle precinct,” the outlet reported.

The numbers

The Balmain Building runs to 10 levels with 11,875 sqm of office space and 78 car spaces, and is fully electric, targeting a 5.5-star NABERS energy rating and a 6-Star Green Star rating, according to the outlet. Skylife developed the project with Borg and development partner Time & Place, with Bates Smart as architect and Hacer Group as builder. The outlet reported Kennedy Consolidated separately leased about 3,300 sqm across levels seven, eight and nine of the same building in September, meaning the Natuzzi deal is the second leasing commitment at the address the outlet has detailed within three months.

What’s next

Natuzzi’s showroom is due to open on the ground floor in late March 2027, the outlet reported. Skylife managing director Mark Tartak told the outlet Natuzzi’s reputation for contemporary design and outstanding quality made it an ideal fit for the building. The outlet did not report a rental figure for the Natuzzi lease or name a separate landlord. realestatesource.com.au first published its report on 2 November and updated it the following day, 3 November, without flagging what changed between the two versions.

The Cremorne signing follows another recent inner-Melbourne commitment: in Collingwood last week, a 22-residence scheme on Derby Street from Milieu Property is moving ahead, as covered in our report on Milieu Property’s Derby Street project, a reminder that the inner-east pocket is drawing both retail and residential commitments in the same period.
