QBCC cancels Hepburn Homes' builder and trade licences
The Builder - Low Rise, Carpentry and Joinery licences held under number 15056176 were all cancelled on the same date, the register shows.
Queensland’s building regulator has cancelled every licence class held by Hepburn Homes Pty Ltd. The QBCC’s public licensee register lists Licence Number 15056176 as Cancelled with a status date of 18 October 2026, covering the Builder - Low Rise, Carpentry and Joinery classes the company held under that one number.
Why it matters
A QBCC licence is what makes building work lawful above the Act’s minimum threshold. Cancellation removes that authority outright, a harder outcome than a suspension, which can be lifted once the underlying issue (commonly an unlodged financial report or a minimum financial requirement failure) is fixed. The register entry gives no reason code, so this report does not guess at one.
For anyone with an open contract with Hepburn Homes, the practical question is who can lawfully finish the job. A cancelled Builder - Low Rise licence means the company can no longer be the licensed contractor of record on residential work in that class, and the same now applies to any carpentry or joinery package taken on directly under its own licence rather than as a subcontractor to another licensed builder. Homeowners partway through a build should check whether their contract, and any Queensland Home Warranty Scheme cover attached to it, is still valid, and subcontractors owed money on a live Hepburn Homes job should treat the company’s ability to pay as now in question.
The cancellation touches all three classes on the same date, which points to one event affecting the licence itself rather than three unrelated compliance failures reaching the same conclusion separately. No ASIC notice for the company turns up alongside it, so this is a licensing action, not yet a recorded liquidation, administration or winding up. The two can precede or follow each other, and this report does not assume which.
The numbers
- Licensee: Hepburn Homes Pty Ltd, ACN 133 720 779, ABN 25 133 720 779.
- QBCC licence number: 15056176.
- Status: Cancelled.
- Status date: 18 October 2026.
- Classes affected: Builder - Low Rise, Carpentry, Joinery, all three under the one licence number.
The register does not publish a reason code, a director’s name, a debt figure or a company address, and none of those is estimated here. No corresponding ASIC notice for Hepburn Homes Pty Ltd was found at the time of writing, so a formal insolvency appointment is not confirmed.
What’s next
A cancelled QBCC licence can be contested. A licensee who disputes the decision can seek a review and, from there, apply to the Queensland Civil and Administrative Tribunal, so this cancellation is not necessarily the last word on Hepburn Homes’ standing with the regulator. Anyone relying on the company’s licence, as a client, a subcontractor or a supplier, can check its current status directly on the QBCC’s public register using licence number 15056176.
If an ASIC notice naming a liquidator or administrator for Hepburn Homes Pty Ltd is published, or the QBCC register changes the status again, this report will be updated. Until then, treat the cancellation as a licensing event only, not confirmation of a formal insolvency appointment. It is the latest in a run of Brisbane-area QBCC licensee actions this month, following Phase2 Plumbing’s creditors’ voluntary liquidation in Joyner, reported the day before.
