Wentworth Equities starts $1.2b Hamilton Grove build in Hamilton
Contractor Mainland Civil is on site for the three-tower, 292-apartment precinct inside Economic Development Queensland's 304-hectare Northshore Hamilton priority development area.
Wentworth Equities is set to turn the first sod on its $1.2 billion Hamilton Grove precinct in Hamilton on Wednesday 21 October, 14 years after buying the riverfront site, realestate.com.au reported. For Brisbane builders and trades, it moves a long-held riverfront landbank into an active construction site with a contractor already mobilised.
Member for Clayfield Tim Nicholls and Hamilton Ward councillor Julia Dixon are due to attend the ceremony today, according to the outlet.
Wentworth Equities executive chairman Sameh Ibrahim said the milestone followed years of planning. “We couldn’t be more excited to officially be putting shovel to soil at Hamilton Grove,” Mr Ibrahim said, according to the outlet.
Contractor Mainland Civil is on site, realestate.com.au reported. The outlet lists Queens Wharf, 300 George Street, Infinity Tower and 1 William Street among the Brisbane projects in its portfolio.
Why it matters
Hamilton Grove sits inside Economic Development Queensland’s Northshore Hamilton priority development area, a 304-hectare PDA beside the Brisbane River. Inside a PDA, EDQ rather than Brisbane City Council is the planning decision-maker.
The Queensland Government is investing $154 million in infrastructure to support growth across the Northshore Hamilton PDA, realestate.com.au reported. The outlet says the PDA is projected to add more than $14 billion to the state economy once complete. That is a projection for the whole PDA, not for this project.
The project’s length of hold is notable. Wentworth Equities has owned the site for 14 years, according to Mr Ibrahim, and is only now moving to construction.
Mr Ibrahim told the outlet the precinct’s sky homes are intended as its centrepiece, pitched at a level of luxury he says Brisbane has not yet seen. That is the developer’s own positioning, not an independent assessment of the market.
EDQ runs several other inner-city PDAs at once, including Bowen Hills, where a 50-storey proposal’s public submission window closed this month.
The numbers
Hamilton Grove carries a reported project value of $1.2 billion, according to realestate.com.au. The figure comes from the outlet’s report. It has not been checked against a development approval or a company filing.
The precinct is planned around three prestige towers with 292 apartments in total, a 196-room five-star hotel and 3,000 square metres of retail space, the outlet reported. A public precinct is also part of the plan.
The $154 million in state infrastructure spending applies to the wider Northshore Hamilton PDA. It is not part of Wentworth Equities’ own project budget.
Hamilton Grove launched to buyers in April 2026, and apartments in the first three towers have been selling since, realestate.com.au reported. The outlet did not give a sales count, a construction completion date or a settlement date, and none is estimated here.
What’s next
The sod turn is scheduled for today, with Mainland Civil already on site. realestate.com.au did not report a construction timetable or completion date for the first stage.
Planning is under way for future stages of the precinct and for the five-star hotel, according to the outlet. Neither has a published start date.
Hamilton Grove sits within EDQ’s planning jurisdiction, so any later stages or changes to the scheme will run through EDQ rather than council. The outlet did not name the approval reference for the current works.
For subcontractors and suppliers, Mainland Civil is the contractor the outlet names on site.
